Kuantan, 11 Mac 2018 – Empat orang pelari dalam acara Run Out Pahang Marathon cedera selepas mereka dilanggar oleh sebuah kereta di Kotasas, 800m dari garisan penamat pagi ini.
Mangsa adalah terdiri daripada tiga wanita dan seorang lelaki. Salah satu daripada mangsa mengalami patah kaki dan yang lain cedera ringan. Mereka dikejarkan ke hospital untuk rawatan.
Kejadian kira-kira jam 8.20 pagi itu dipercayai berlaku apabila kereta Nissan Almera yang dipandu oleh seorang wanita hilang kawalan dan memasuki laluan pelari sebelum melanggar mangsa-mangsa dari belakang.
Menurut Ketua Polis Daerah Kuantan ACP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali, pihak polis menerima laporan kemalangan daripada pemandu kereta berusia 28 tahun. Tiada tangkapan dibuat. Kejadian itu akan disiasat megikut mengikut Seksyen 43 (1) Akta Pengangkutan Jalan 1987.

Dear Runners,
We would like to thank all of those who have participated in our marathon and all of those who have enjoyed it. Overall our 2018 marathon has been successful until a very unfortunate accident has occurred to 4 of our brave runners during the race. Nonetheless, none of the cases are fatal and we are monitoring closely on the recovery of our runners.
Although, the race routes were highly ensured and doubled on traffic and safety patrols as compared to previous years, there seem to be false rumors that the accident has happened due to the carelessness of an internal party.
The organizers’ internal team operated merely in the carnival area and by the race routes’ water stations and maintained professionalism and dedication at all times of this event.
For this reason, we would like the public to know that the safety of our runners has always been our top priority and we will constantly work harder every year to enhance it.
The Run Out Pahang Marathon team promises to keep our runners safety as our top priority as this case is currently under investigation by the local authorities and would like the runners to know that we are equally concerned and as a team, we are taking this matter very seriously.
